Good morning students and families of HSMSE.
During the current climate we are vigilant and observant of demonstrations and patterns of behavior on ccny campus and are continuing the efforts of transparent communication to families.
This morning I am reaching out because a CUNY-wide rally for Palestine has been circulating on social media to take place on campus at 12 pm outside the Grove School of Engineering. NYPD and CCNY security are fully aware and have prepared with increased presence for today. As a continued effort of full transparency with our students and families we wanted to bring this to your attention.
We will be asking all students today to avoid using the NAC cafeteria and library. We will provide space for students to eat within Baskerville Hall and inform them which classrooms are available. Students who plan to buy lunch off campus may do so and will be asked to return to Baskerville swiftly and enjoy their meals at the school as well. We are also planning along with APR to have additional lunches prepared. We expect classes to run throughout the day without interruption and are focused on security and safety during the lunch elective time periods.
In general we want students to avoid any crowds during the lunch periods if outside on the campus. We will have continued security and support at dismissal. At this time after school activities will continue as planned. We will keep families and students posted if any changes should arise.
As a school on a college campus student voice and demonstrations during active conflicts in the world, can become a recurrent theme. In support with students and families we will continue to provide clear and transparent communication of safety procedures when campus alerts arise.
Thank you for your support with our community. Should you have any questions about safety procedures and building response please feel free to contact Dean Zara [email protected] and include AP Bartley [email protected] as well. If you have questions about student attendance please contact [email protected] and [email protected], Ms. Ortiz and Ms. Bennett, respectively.
